Ive been looking forward to this session for a while now and I knew that we would have a mix of results with some people just coming back, while others are peaking for the “Worlds”, but this was an important session for everyone to put a line in the sand and to set an early season benchmark to see where they are.
New boys Maarten and Nick H showed the old guard how to do it taking out 1st and 2nd and Jony on his 3 week sub 3 Marathon plan rounds out the podium with what I believe a big Pb. At a quick look Mark T, Mat & Seb all achieved PBs this morning as well, but like Chelsea Football club in England “Too Big to Fail” and “The Champs” are starting pre season a little later and will be looking for a later “Peak” so watch out for these big boys posting some fast times in the next couple of months.
Paula once again takes out the women’s title, with Ruth pushing hard and getting closer and closer and will now freshen up for the Coastal Classic this weekend. AC gets her 2nd PB in 3 days to round off the Podium but I must say that I am really pleased to see Maggi continue her improvement after some great training sessions hanging onto the faster guys. Also great to see Kirsty return from sickness and doing it steady today to blow the cobwebs out, not risking going too hard to avoid a relapse and getting sick again. Fantastic to see Kate OB and Lou back in full swing and only around 30 seconds off their PB’s and i reckon they will push those pretty close next month. Erin a little under the weather so off her usual pace but again its about her next race in 70.3 and not today.
I will be testing myself against the clock this weekend over the 43km Calga TT course, so hopefully I can match the effort that you guys put in today.
Until next month.

Some great work by Amanda Today, you can see that her Heart Rate hit her Threshold by 5 mins, then she was able to hold that all the way to the end. AC’s HR was a little lower than usual due to some training stress fatigue, but pacing was perfect and a great session 12 days out from her 70.3.
Well done all.
