Lots of fun at the BRAT Duathlon today. On a chilly morning we had a nice little crew heading out to Heffron Park for a hit out and MP dominated the podium.

I’m still not allowed to run after being in the moon boot for the Plantar Tear and after 10 weeks off I knew today was going to hurt. The plan was to just go out hard and see how long I could hold on for.

You can see from my power file below that I started just above my FTP and finished just under it. But that said I was really happy with 310 watts for the bike which I was using as a marker for my next block of training.

LoI was grateful to have Brendan Krone run for me, coming in a couple of seconds behind a flying Campbell Dawson. I gave it everything and had a good ride and Brendan finished it off well with a solid run and hats off to him as he was recovering from being sick.

So we took out the teams and overall 1st. Carmine had a great race coming in first individual overall, running sub 4 min kms for the 5k run leg, a solid bike and second run. Zoe (another coming off sickness) had to hold back a little today, but even at 50% she would still fly and came in 1st female and raced smart.

Chris Quirk had a very strong bike, and with a strong run came in 4th. Grumpy’s new found love for Heffron races continued with another PB and a solid race. Finally the team of Emma / Maria / Emma had a great first race and some good solid work and pacing saw a great effort and building experience.

I would like to thank the BRATs for putting on another good race and good to see more kids racing each month and building the race back up again.

Until next time.
